I’ve Been Hacked!

Screenshot from the email I received from Booking dot com.

Yes, I just saw that my Booking.com account was hacked. Someone booked five days at Jersey City for 5 days.

Normally, I don’t read most of the emails that I received especially updates.

And, I just happened to click at around 10:01 PM on 16 March 2022 that I had a booking confirmation at Ramada by Wyndham Jersey City.

I don’t know what happened or how it happened.

When I clicked on the link “Review our online security tips”, the booking was already cancelled.

And, to think that the travel dates were from 25 March to 30 March 2022, five days, for two rooms amounting to $1,071 or around 55,000 pesos.

Around 10:27PM on 16 March 2022, I removed the Google link access on Booking.com and I also uninstalled the Booking.com Mobile app on my old phone, Asus Zenfone Max Pro (M1) ZB601KL/ZB602K. I was trying to disconnect my Google account link via the Mobile App but it does not allow me. So, what I did was removed the Booking.com access via Google on a Google Chrome browser.

This post is just a reminder that everyone is vulnerable to hacking incidents.
