
This is a late post which was supposed to be published yesterday, Sunday, 16 September 2018, but due to the effects of typhoon Ompong, the posting date is today, Monday, 17 September 2018.
The Opening Ceremony of the 2018 Batang Pinoy Games was postponed due to the typhoon Ompong that devastated most of Luzon area.
Baguio City was chosen as the venue for the national finals of the said sports competition and it is jointly hosted by the neighboring municipality of La Trinidad, Benguet.
Classes for elementary and high school are suspended and will be serving almost 7,000 Batang Pinoy athletes nationwide. 17 regional flags will be flying high during the said event.
The city has issued Administrative Order (AO) No. 128 last 6 September ensuring maximum participation of all youth for the week-long sports competition.
These youth athletes will compete in 28 sports games including 18 qualifying and final sports wherein Baguio will be having over 700 athletes participating in several sports events.
The Batang Pinoy sports event completed all its three major stages including the Luzon Leg held at Vigan, Ilocos Sur, the Visayas Leg finished at Dumaguete, Negros Oriental and the Mindanao Leg completed at Oroquieta City in Misamis Occidental.
