This charity run is a fundraising event organised by the Baguio City National High School (BCNHS) – Science Department Class 1999, the high school section class of which my wife was a part of, and in cooperation with Team Podium Boutique Hotel Baguio. This will be a benefit run for Alab Caringal diagnosed with 4-Gene Deletion Alpha Thalassemia or Alpha Thalassemia Major. Individuals with this disorder cannot produce any functional alpha globulin, which is responsible for carrying oxygen around the body. Babies with this condition die either in the mother’s womb or shortly after birth because of severe anaemia. He is the first, only reported survivor in the Philippines after miraculously surviving during his birth at only 29 weeks, and is amongst the very few reported cases worldwide.
The details for the different race categories for this charity run are as follows:
- 3K category – Php 350.00 registration fee with race kits including dri-fit commemorative shirt, race bib, finisher’s certificate, goody bag, snacks, and a chance to win raffle prizes
- 5K category – Php 450.00 registration fee with race kits including dri-fit commemorative shirt, race bib, finisher’s certificate, goody bag, snacks, and a chance to win raffle prizes
- 10K category – Php 650.00 registration fee with race kits including dri-fit commemorative shirt, race bib, finisher’s certificate, goody bag, snacks, and a chance to win raffle prizes
- 21K category – Php 750.00 registration fee with race kits including dri-fit commemorative shirt, race bib, finisher’s certificate, goody bag, finisher’s medal, snacks, and a chance to win raffle prizes
